Products to Sell

Looking for products to sell on the internet? You have come to the right place! We'll explain some of your options, then connect you with some of the top vendors. You are sure to find products you can sell here at OneStopPromo.

You have options when it comes to finding your products. Which one you choose depends on your experience, willingness to take risks, the size of your business, your budget, and your goals. But it basically breaks down like this:

  • Wholesale Distributors
Wholesale distributors sell you products at significantly reduced prices. Generally, you have to purchase a lot of product -- very few wholesalers will sell you individual items or small quantities. The idea is that you maintain a stock of items that you resell at retail prices. The selling is up to you, and so is the inventory, billing, and shipping to your customer. This is definitely not recommended for someone just getting started in online sales, since you don't yet know what sells, or how quickly you can resell your stock. But if you are an experienced seller, then wholesale is undoubtedly the lowest price you'll pay for your products. For a list of wholesale distributors, just search the web for WHOLESALE DIRECTORIES.
    Google
  • Drop Shippers
Drop shippers are similar to wholesalers, but they're a much better idea for beginners. Like a wholesale distributor, a drop shipper charges you a reduced price for the products you sell (they'll call it wholesale). Then they take care of a lot of the hassles, and handle a lot of the risks. For example, drop shippers will ship products directly to your customers, taking inventory and shipping off your hands. You pay the drop shipper a reduced price after your customer pays you at retail, and you keep the difference. You're still responsible for making the sale and billing the customer, but then you just go to the drop shipper's website and place the order, and they handle the rest. For your customer billing you'll need to handle credit cards, and the easiest way to start is with PayPal.

Drop shipping is the #1 choice for anyone selling on Click here for your favorite eBay items In fact, this has become so popular that many drop shippers offer eBay training!

Want more details on drop shipping? Take a look at some of the vendors below, and READ THIS ARTICLE for more great information.

  • Affiliate Programs
Affiliate programs can be a great option for someone on a tight budget. You can find lots of different products to sell, and you can usually join the programs for free. Many programs give you a website to promote, so you don't have to design your own. Your job is to promote the products and make the sales, and they take care of the billing, inventory and shipping, and then send you the commissions. Don't expect to make as much per sale as with wholesale or drop shippers, but remember that you're not taking any of the risk!

Some affiliate programs reward you for signing-up other affiliates, by giving you a cut of the commissions earned on their sales. Sign up a few power-hitters, and the promise is "mailbox money" -- commissions on sales you didn't have to work for.

But BEWARE! Not all affiliate programs are created equal. Make sure the products are not over-priced, to cover multi-level commissions -- this makes them hard to sell. Check out the affiliate agreement (pay plan, or compensation plan) very carefully. Watch out for hidden costs. Avoid programs that require you to buy something in order to make money -- you will probably lose in this deal. Some programs come with so-called "support tools" that cost extra, or your "sponsor" may encourage you to attend "business development" meetings. To be fair, many people learn a lot from these materials, and enjoy these meetings. But if you're spending more on "tools" than you are earning in commissions after a year, you're probably in the wrong program. We'll recommend a few reputable and completely free affiliate programs below -- check them out and see if they have the products you want to sell online.

  • Other Sources
Yard sales, flea-markets, and the like can be lots of fun (when the weather is nice), and can also be a great source of products to sell online, especially on www.ebay.com . Of course, you can't rely on your suppliers, but if you're into selling antiques or collectables, this is one way to find your inventory.

Maybe you're into crafting, or you know someone else who is. Get a bunch of stock together and put it online, and turn your hobby into a business. If you are industrious, you can pull together a group of local artisans and use your head for business, and their head for beauty, to create a win-win for everyone.

There are other places to find products, like trade shows, and importers. Check your local and regional directories to find these resources.

Well, that should give you a few ideas! Now take a look at some of the options below, and see if you can find the perfect product for your online business.
